I came up with this idea based on a flight of fantasy and then a re-listening to the ancient Genesis tracks of the early seventies.
I was walking in London this week and there were a few homeless chaps in doorways. For some reason, the phrase 'Eat the homeless' sprang to mind and I carried myself off to writing a story about how the slaughter of homeless people would rid the streets of such 'vermin' and how it then became a Government directive. But once this was achieved, the new blood lust meant that elderly people were now on the hit list etc etc.
I guess it's a similar idea to the Genesis track, 'Get 'em out by Friday' which tells the story of Harlow New Town. The residents are forcibly removed from their cottages into high rise apartments. Soon the cost of renting the apartments goes up. And then 'Genetic Control' decides that there must now be a four foot restriction on 'humanoid height' so that they can accommodate more people into smaller spaces.
So my idea for February is that you attempt to throw of the shackles of logic and, perhaps, decency and tell a fantasy tale that can of course be allegorical.
