Hi All
I’m off work (holiday) for a few weeks and found myself pondering the SWC and what ‘statistics’ can tell us (don’t we all? After you’ve read this you will correctly assume I have too much time on my hands.)
This is what I discovered after 2hours of data input from voting for songs from April 2014 to July 2016.
Our most successful songwriter is Christian/Eddie with 7 wins (four of those were shared victories, i.e. he got the same number of votes as other winners in that particular month.)
He is also our highest winner of your votes with 94.5 (the .5 represents the points scored when he collaborated in March 2015.)
Joint second with 5 wins each are Patrick D (even though he has been absent since May last year!) and Tim & Glyn.
4 wins for Tim & Julie (one of which was shared with Robbie G), Phil S and Colin S (again, amazing since he hasn’t submitted a song for over a year.)
Interestingly, our second highest points scorers are Tim & Julie with 72.5. They are also frighteningly consistent, scoring EVERY time they submit (with the exception of their dreadful opening song back in April 2014! Mine must have been equally as dreadful, as we scored exactly the same that month!)
When the ‘Average Score per participated month’ are studied, our winner is Austin Vince but I think we can discount that as he scored well but has only participated once (what I would term ’Flo-Jo’ syndrome - turn up, get a world record and then get out before anyone notices anything untoward!)
Therefore, the highest average score for our regular participants is 3.87 for Patrick D, closely followed by his Bro, Christian/Eddie with 3.78 BUT Patrick’s average is from 15 song submissions whereas Christian/Eddie’s is from 25.
Next up is Colin S with 2.88 showing a consistency of quality. But again, that is off just 8 songs.
Tim & Glyn and Mike G are tied on 2.82 average per participated month though Tim & Glyn’s figure is based on 25 songs to Mike’s 22. Next is Stephen C with 2.75 from 24 songs.
One last analysis I did was to see who the most emphatic winners were (averagely-speaking!) The winner was Phil with an average of 7.33 votes per win. Next was Christian/Eddie with 5.57 and Stephen C with 5.33.
