I just listened to 'King Heroin' by James Brown and marvelled at the words, the delivery and the instrumentation. Other famous spoken songs include 'If' and...actually I can't think of any others (it's not something I'd seek out!)
Anyway, my thought is that this month the songs have to have a spoken element, either a small part (a chorus or mid section, like 'The Little Boy that Santa Claus Forgot' by Nat King Cole) or the entire piece is spoken.
My thinking is that this will appeal to the true lyricists; it will push those who rely on their singing and it might also make the instrumentation a little more interesting.
